Fall has been lovely here and we are NOT settling in to a "long winter's nap"! As a matter of fact, this is one of our busiest and most exciting seasons of the year. Between November and April we will welcome the arrival of 12 new cria for 2013 / 2014. Two of our little ones are already here pronking in the pasture. Now is a great time to plan a trip to visit with us. Call us at 828-837-1678. The farmstore is open too so you can take a little alpaca home with you.
BE SURE TO MARK YOUR CALENDAR'S WITH THE FOLLOWING DATES:
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 30 and SUNDAY, DECEMBER 1
....this is the weekend for our 2nd annual OPEN HOUSE on the Farm. Join us either or both days from 11am till 3pm for refreshments, tours and meetings with the critters plus a great kick off to your Holiday Shopping Season in our STORE!
Friday, December 6 (4-8pm) and Saturday, December 7 (10am to 3pm)
....we will be happy to be back at the UNION COUNTY FARMER'S MARKET in Blairsville, GA for their annual KRIS KRINGLE MARKETPLACE. Local Farmers, Crafters and Artists will be on hand to help you make your season bright!
... All of the 100% alpaca yarn and roving we have on property here is grown and milled in the southeastern US. It is truly LOCAL ALPACA, you might say. Some of our yarn is natural color from the alpaca and other offerings have been hand dyed and hand painted in an array of colors we have named to celebrate our local mountains and valleys.
We also believe in supporting the local community and are proud to sponsor the work of local artists who make delightful items from hats to scarves, woven baskets to baby booties and alpaca felted goat's milk soaps. We even have a toy maker working with our alpaca products who never ceases to amaze us with her creations...
Unless your are attending a special OPEN FARM event, Please call ahead to visit the farm. We want to make each visit a special one and we can usually schedule as tour within 24 hours...sometimes less!
Everyday, our farm is home to Mike and Woody Ham, 34 delightful alpacas,2 noble llamas, 5 loyal dogs and 2 working cats. We found our special place in the southwesternmost corner of the great state of North Carolina. These ancient hills of Appalachia surround us with four distinct seasons and daily encounters with the miraculous natural world.
We breed and raise alpacas. Alpacas are producers of wonderful natural fiber that we shear from them once per year. Our goal as breeders is to celebrate all the many naturally occuring colors in alpaca fleece; to improve the quality of that fleece with each breeding and to strengthen the overall quality of the animals in the North American Alpaca Herd with our breeding decisions. We are dedicated to the health and well being of the animals residing on our farm; we are further dedicated to the success of the folks who become our clients and purchase those animals, breedings and agistment contracts from us.
We are proud to be in Cherokee County North Carolina promoting the rural lifestyle. Two Crows Farm is happy to accept visitors and share a little information about raising livestock, processing yarn from fleece, growing more of our own food and getting closer to the sense of community that living in the country brings.
Please enjoy the sights and stories of our farmlife and our business. Feel free to add yourself to our mailing list or contact us for a visit.
